Isabel braids her classical voice training with mindfulness and ritual practices honed from time spent in an array of spiritual communities (learn more here). She frequently leads workshops, performs, and provides 1:1 vocal coaching. One of her specialties is bringing voice/music into social justice and community organizing spaces. As a facilitator, she co-creates with communities and leaders, building off of what is particularly resonant and activating for them.
Sound Intentions Circle is the practice of voicing and listening to story - in our bodies and communities. It was developed as part of Isabel's graduate studies at Union Theological Seminary, and later taken to an artist residency at MINKA Brooklyn. The nature of this practice is improvisatory, impermanent, and deeply personal for its participants. Thus, few recordings of Sound Intentions Circle have been made. Learn more by clicking below. Please enjoy some clips of original chants, collaborations, conversations, and celebrations. In the depths of the pandemic, a series of chants for collective liberation were created as a salve during the 2020 U.S. election. Unable to make music safely with others, Isabel harmonized with herself. Since then, these chants have been performed, taught, and shared in virtual and in-person worship services and workshops. |
